Roman Workshops for Schools
The Roman Experience
A one day workshop focusing on the Roman Invasion of Britain, 
why they came here, what they did when they got here 
and what they left us with. 
                                                            
 

Invasion!
The day starts with a surprise invasion of the classroom - soldiers are immediately recruited, slaves will be taken and the classroom is plundered (hide your pencils and rubbers!) 


                 Slaves
We visit a slave market where the wealthy citizens of the classroom will have money to buy a  slave of their own.

 




Artefacts & Archaeology
After examining some original 
artefacts,the children make thier 
own Roman coins to take
 home and keep. 
 






 


Latin Lesson
The Roman way...




Roman Banquet
Lunchtime leads into the Banquet, where the children have an opportunity to sample traditional Roman fare whilst listening to work from comtemporary playwrights and writers.












 
Traditional story-telling
The legend of Romulus and Remus.
 
 
 





The Roman Play.
Completely different to theatre as we know it today - we have a look at a Roman invention that we still use now.....
Props, performances and full audience participation!




The Roman Experience Workshop is designed to cover 
the following areas of the curriculum:
*How and why the Romans invaded Britain
*Why the Roman Empire was important
*Speaking and Listening
*Empathy and Drama
*Historical Sources and their uses
*Chronological Order


  • Each workshop goes out with 2 members of staff, and can be fitted around your lunch and break times.
  • We bring costumes for everyone (sorry teachers - that doesn't include you!)
  • We can cater for around 60 children at a time.
  • We carry Public Liability Inurance, and all of our members hold enhanced CRB checks.
